CentOS & yum – installing a package without Internet connection

I have just had a “pleasure” of installing a package on a locked down instance of CentOS that had no Internet connection. I hated Yum as it kept trying to go to Internet even when it was provided with a local path to a package – such a stupid behaviour!

The right command line to workaround this nice feature is as follows:

yum localinstall --disablerepo=* .rpm
